Your questions were:
>I'm wondering if the Bible really says some things that I hear a lot, such
as:  God won't put on us more than we can bear

Yes, it does, in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

>You just can't question God

Please read Romans 9:20-21; Job 42:1-6.

>Everything that happens is God's will

The Bible teaches that through Christ all things consist (hold together),
Col. 1:17.  So, without the overruling power of God, this world would not
operate.  At the same time, God has given mankind freedom of choice, the
ability to choose right from wrong (Josh. 24:15).  God will judge our moral
and religious choices in life (Rom. 2:5-11).  Fatalism is not Bible
doctrine.

We should also acknowledge that many things happen in this world because of
the presence of sin (cf. Gen. 3:16-19).  The Bible says "all have sinned..."
(Rom. 3:23), yet that is not God's will (1 Tim. 2:3-4).  So, everything that
happens is not God's will - but He allows everything to occur, including our
choices.

>God helps those who help themselves

It is true that the Lord blesses those who are diligent and industrious in
life (Prov. 12:11; 13:11; 20:13; 6:9-11).

>God has a purpose in everything

Yes, He does - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; 12:13.

Joe Price
