I. THE HEART AFTER CONVERSION (CHRISTIAN’S HEART).

  A.  Christ Dwells in it by Faith, Eph. 3:17 (Rev. 3:20).

  B.  Purposeful, Acts 11:23; 2 Cor. 9:7.

  C.  Godly Attributes of Heart:

    1.  Pure, Matt. 5:8 (1 Tim. 1:5; 2 Tim. 2:22; James 4:8; 1 Pet. 1:22).

    2.  Forgiving, Matt. 18:35 (Col. 3:13).

    3.  Tender, Eph. 4:32.

    4.  Gracious, ruled by God’s peace, Heb. 13:9; Col. 3:15.

    5.  Meek and quiet, 1 Pet. 3:4.

    6.  True, Heb. 10:22 (genuine, sincere, Eph. 6:5-7).

    7.  Melodious, joy-filled, Eph. 5:19.

  D.  Encouraged, Col. 2:2. (Knit together in love, full assurance…)

  E.  Established in Love's Blameless Holiness, 1 Thess. 3:12-13.

  F.  Open, 2 Cor. 6:11-12; 7:2-3 (8:16).

    1.  Accepting, responsive, and caring.

    2.  cf. Paul’s heart of anguish, 2 Cor. 2:4.

 

II.  CHRISTIANS WARNED AGAINST WRONG HEARTS.

  A.  Discouraged, Luke 18:1; Gal. 6:9; 2 Cor. 4:16; Eph. 3:13 (Luke 21:25-26, fear and expectations). Consider Jesus, Heb. 12:3.

  B.  Closed, 1 John 3:16-18 (indifferent, fails to love).

  C.  Doubtful (troubled), Luke 24:38. Be assured, 1 John 3:19-21.

  D.  Bitter and Self-Seeking, James 3:14.

  E.  Deceived, James 1:26 (27).

  F.  Evil and Unbelieving, Heb. 3:12-13.

  G.  Sin-ladened, Luke 21:34-36 (Heb. 12:1).

 

Conclusion

1.  Jesus searches, knows, and recompenses hearts, Rev. 2:23.

2.  Sanctify Christ in our hearts as Lord, 1 Pet. 3:15.
